The Tax regime determines which tax documents you can issue and how Reneva calculates taxes and surcharges. You choose it in Companies and users, on the company record: documents already issued do not change. The Business type limits compatible regimes, but does not change calculations on its own.
The regime
- Flat-rate — no VAT on the invoice: the legal wording replaces it.
- Ordinary (VAT) — you charge VAT at the rate you set, usually 22%.
- Occasional service (no VAT number) — you issue a receipt, not an invoice; the withholding tax, when it applies, is the 20% set by law.
A company based outside Italy also sees Standard (configurable tax): give the local tax a name and a rate, with no Italian e-invoice.
Business type
Choose among Self-employed professional, Sole proprietorship, Partnership, Corporation and Association or body: Reneva works out on its own whether the company is an individual or an entity. With Occasional service the business type remains visible but cannot be edited.
Compatible regime
Tax regime always offers Occasional service, Flat-rate and Ordinary (VAT), but the law ties them to the business type: a Sole proprietorship chooses between Flat-rate and Ordinary, companies and an Association or body only Ordinary. If you choose flat-rate for a company or body, Reneva does not save and flags it on the field. Business type and tax regime cannot be changed after the company is created.
Surcharge and pension funds by type
The INPS surcharge appears only for a Self-employed professional, flat-rate too (it belongs to those who pay into the INPS separate scheme). Additional pension funds appear for a Self-employed professional under the ordinary regime and, as an option, for a Partnership and a Corporation (professional associations, professional and engineering firms). For a Sole proprietorship, an Association or body and Occasional service they are not there and stay off.
Companies register
Companies state in Companies register the REA office and number and the liquidation status; corporations also the paid-up share capital and whether they have a sole shareholder. They are required and go into the e-invoice and at the bottom of the PDFs, as the Civil Code requires.
Declared flat-rate data
Enter Substitute tax and Profitability coefficient in Analysis → Overview → Taxes and contributions → Update data → Profile, with values agreed with your accountant: Reneva does not infer them from the business type. The panel uses them for the annual estimate; they are not edited in company settings.
The €5,000 alert (occasional work)
When the year's gross receipts pass €4,000 you get an alert in the bell and by email, with no option to turn on: above €5,000 you must register with the INPS Gestione Separata, so talk to your accountant. The alert arrives once per year and person.
Withholding tax
For occasional work, Apply 20% withholding tax in the company's Tax choices switches on by itself when you choose occasional work (also during creation) and proposes your choice for new receipts, Subscriptions and Client projects. You can change it before issuing, without touching saved choices and issued documents. Under the ordinary regime, withholding starts off and is chosen on each document.
An occasional receipt applies the 20% rate. On an ordinary invoice, with withholding enabled, you choose the rate, type and reason for form 770 in the document; the type may be RT01 — natural persons or RT02 — legal entities, depending on the actual case and not just whether the client has a VAT number. The total does not change, the Net payable does (Taxes on a document).
On an ordinary invoice the initial rate is 0 (disabled): if you enter a positive rate, also choose type and reason. Other withholding is configured in each document, with an editable base within the eligible line items' compensation.
INPS surcharge
0 keeps it disabled. Enter a positive percentage only if you pay contributions to the Gestione separata and want to charge it to the client; it applies to future documents. If in doubt, leave 0 and ask your accountant.
Additional pension funds
Up to two pension funds, separate from the INPS surcharge: choose the type and rate agreed with your accountant (0 disables). The values are proposed in new documents and can be changed before issue. New rows offer TC14 — INPGI and TC16 — CASAGIT; an existing row keeps its type. The choice does not change documents already issued.
The two funds are calculated separately on the same eligible compensation: one does not increase the other's base. A professional pension fund never enters the withholding tax base: by law only the INPS surcharge does.
The stamp duty
Charge €2 stamp to client starts on for flat-rate, ordinary and occasional service. It is due when the VAT-free part exceeds €77.47: on, it is charged to the client; off, it remains your cost. It applies to new documents, including those issued from subscriptions and client projects.
After the first tax document
VAT number, tax code, country and currency lock after the first invoice, receipt or credit note; business type and tax regime are fixed from creation. Surcharge, pension funds and stamp duty remain preferences you can change for future documents; withholdings are chosen in each document before issue, and issued documents keep their amounts and treatment.
The notice at the top of the company record lists the visible fields you cannot change: for protected ones follow its instructions; name, address and contact details remain editable.
