Every due date of a renewal is a period. In the renewal's Documents table, where every row is a period, you see it move from To issue to Invoiced when you issue the document, and to Paid when you record the payment.
Invoicing a period
From the renewal choose Create document: the window states which period the document is for (Period of Sep 24, 2026). A quote, a proforma or an invoice is created and linked to that period: the link keeps you from invoicing the same due date twice.
The new document title combines the subscription title and the frequency selected in How often. For example, with the title “Website maintenance” and the frequency “Monthly”, you read “Website maintenance - Monthly”. Previously issued documents keep their own title.
Surcharge, withholding, stamp duty and pension funds come from the renewal's Tax choices, in Line items and amounts below the totals: they apply to every document created from the card. When empty, they follow the company's tax settings. The pop-up only asks for type, number and due date.
Which document to create
The picker offers the types of your regime: Quote, Pro forma or Invoice. A quote or a pro forma with no recorded payments does not by itself remove the period from To issue. A pro forma with a recorded payment, even a partial one, excludes the period from this count. If the pro forma is linked to the period, the subscription can remain in the list for other periods to invoice.
A pro forma with a recorded payment and no linked period excludes the entire subscription from the count.
The period's net and the document's total
The period carries the amount without taxes; the issued document carries the total, with taxes and tax items when they apply. For the exact amount to collect, always check the document, not the period: they are the figures of the summary.
When the due date moves
If you issue the document yourself with Create document, the subscription's due date does not move: it advances by How often when you record the payment, and while the period is only Invoiced the date stays the same.
If the subscription issues on its own, the due date advances on the scheduled day, even without a payment and even when no document is created: see Due dates and payments.
If you record the wrong payment
To fix a payment recorded by mistake, use Undo the collection on the document linked to the period. See Due dates and payments for the full gesture.
