Record a recurring expense once with New expense: Reneva uses Recurrence and Start date to calculate due dates. Prepared due dates alone, without documents or payments, do not lock them; if they are locked use Duplicate in the top menu (for example, duplicate a monthly subscription you have already paid to create an annual one).
When you change the year in the header, active and paused recurring expenses stay visible; one-off and archived ones follow the expense date. Period shows the same year: choose Custom for a specific range.
Amount
Changing a recurring expense's amount updates prepared due dates with no payments or linked documents. If the expense has line items, its total comes from them. A due date with even a partial payment keeps its original amount.
Payment recording
Choose Manual to record each outgoing payment from its due date; Automatic only when the charge is certain, selecting the payment method. Reneva records the payment on its due date but does not charge the account or card: when in doubt use Manual.
The method needs an active account in the company currency. Without a compatible account the due date stays unpaid; once you configure it, Reneva catches up without recording the payment twice.
Future date
An expense with a future date is forecast: find it with a future window in Period or with Due date. For new one-off expenses without a document the entry date is automatic: for a future payment set Payment due date.
Split into installments
Open Split into installments to divide the net payable into several due dates: Reneva proposes dates 30 days apart, which you can change keeping them in order. With an existing plan the action becomes Edit installments: installments with a payment stay fixed and Reneva divides only the uncommitted remainder; if nothing can be changed, the action is visible but disabled.
The plan is in Payments and due dates, before Line items and amounts, with each installment's due date, amount, status and payment date.
Paying an installment
Record payment on the installment settles only that due date; once paid it becomes Undo payment, which reverses it on the date of the cancelled payment, and after a partial payment both stay side by side. The vertical menu offers Upload document and the corrections available for your permissions and the status.
The badge on recurring expenses
The badge beside Active summarizes all due dates already recorded: Overdue if the first open one has passed, To pay if an amount remains, otherwise Paid. After you settle every due date of a monthly subscription the expense is Paid, and the next unrecorded due date does not change the badge.
Credit notes and self-invoices
When a recurring due date has a linked invoice, its menu offers Record credit note and Create self-invoice (when available) on that due date's invoice: open the March row to work on the March invoice.
Pause and archive
Only recurring expenses can be Paused. From the status next to the title choose Archived when the cost must not recur: the row stays available with Status → Archived and its open due dates leave forecasts and bank matching; recorded payments stay. When you pause or resume, Reneva rebuilds the forecast from the history in Notes: the suspended months stay empty.
Import from CSV
Import from CSV adds new expenses; rows with the ID of an existing expense are skipped and reported in the result. Always check the preview before confirming. To correct an existing expense open its record: there you edit fields, installments and due dates.
