The Timer logs time against a project. Use the session list to review hours already saved.
Starting and stopping
Choose Project / task, add a note if needed and press Start. Choose a task when the project has more than one.
Press Stop when you finish. You can have only one active timer: starting another stops the previous one.
If the timer is running, you see a red dot next to Timer in the menu.
If Stop is rejected because the session overlaps another one for the same user, read the message shown. The session stays active and the time entries remain unchanged.
After Stop, the project and task remain selected: press Start to log a new session on the same work.
If the Timer module is off, the page is not in the menu: it opens only to stop a timer left running.
If you left the timer running too long, open the session and use Fix the duration.
Add manually
Use Add manually to log time already worked. Choose project, task, Start and End, then save. The end cannot be in the future.
The list of sessions
Sessions are grouped by day. Open a duration to use Fix the duration and
change the start, end or duration. Write the duration as 2 (two hours) or
1:30; the end cannot be in the future.
The daily total includes the team's hours for admins and your own hours for other users. Ask an admin if you need to correct a session you cannot edit.
What counts toward the totals
Only closed sessions count in totals. The value of hours uses the project rate or the category rate, explained in Tasks and the hourly rate.
Used compares tracked hours with the Hours budget saved in tasks. Recurring Renewals use the current renewal period; Client projects and internal projects use total hours. To change the estimate, open the task's Estimated hours.
You can also use the timer on the tasks page. Stopping a session saves its duration; starting again creates a new session.
